KTXL FOX40 is sponsoring a contest to make one lucky Northern California resident’s “American Idol” dream come true.
The “Northern California Idol” pre-auditions will be held 6:30 a.m.-noon July 2 at Thunder Valley Amphitheater in Lincoln.
The winner will receive a front-of-the-line pass to the “American Idol” regional auditions in Chicago and $700 for travel expenses.
The first 200 qualified contestants are guaranteed a pre-audition. To register, go to http://is.gd/audition
Potential contestants who do not pre-register online will be admitted on a first come, first served basis.
Contestants in the pre-admission line receive first priority.
Contestants will perform a short acapella preliminary audition. From the preliminary round, 40 contestants will be selected to advance to the final round of on-stage judging.
All auditions are judged by professional music educators from Skip’s Music in Sacramento and are scored for vocal ability, stage presence and appearance.
The grand prize winner must be 15-28 years old as of June 2 and certify that their performer’s status is amateur. They must be a California resident living within the FOX40 viewing area and show valid photo ID.
